Kaduna Poly Students Appeal To NYSC To Considers Ages

President of the Kaduna State Polytechnic students union, Mr Aminu Haruna Maipampo, has appealed to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to consider students, whose ages were affected by the prolonged strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) for the one-year national service.Maipampo made the appeal at the inauguration of new officers of the student union of the institution.The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Mohammed Bello Ibrahim, promised to forward the request of the students to the headquarters of the NYSC to allow all the students go for the compulsory service.In his acceptance speech, the new president of the union, Ibrahim Musa, expressed
appreciation to his fellow students for electing him and assured the management of his resolve to run a consultative administration.The Rector however, warned the new union executives against embezzling students’ funds or have their academic career truncated.Dr Bello said the institution would not tolerate graft under any guise, adding that there was the need for thestudent leaders to obey rules and regulations.“The position you have assumed today should not allow you to forget your primary reason, which is acquiring qualitative education and graduating with good result.“Do not allow the activities of the union to take your attention from your studies,” he said.Bello assured the union leaders that the school management would give priority attention to students’ welfare, but warned them to be careful about agitations from their members.“You must not allow your colleagues to destroy school facilities in the name of any form of agitation. Remember that, these facilities were put in place a long time ago and you must also preserve them for future generations to also enjoy.“You must facilitate a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for you to learn and for us to work. It is by doing this that, the desired goals of being in the school would be realized” he said.meanwhile, Dr Ibrahim tasked the student leaders not to forget their primary reason which is to acquire qualitative education and graduate with good results on merit, “do not allow the activities of the union to take your attention from your studies” he said.
